Die Übernahme bedarf noch der Zustimmung der Regulierungsbehörden, soll aber bis Jahresende abgeschlossen sein.
Damit würde Amazon Einfluss bei LibraryThing erhalten, bei dem Abebooks seit Mai 2006 mit 40 Prozent Anteilseigner ist.
Tim Spalding, Hauptanteilseigner von LibraryThing beruhigt aber die Community bezüglich ihrer Daten:
Amazon will not get access to your data. The LibraryThing/Abebooks terms are specific. Abe gets only anonymized and aggregate data, like recommendations, and they can only use it on Abebooks sites (eg., Abebooks.com, Abebooks.de). Nothing has changed here.
