Einfach zu schön, um nicht nochmal darauf hinzuweisen. So kann man auch mit Klischees spielen, die um das eigene Berufsbild bestehen. Ich liebe diesen Clip.

So schön der Film auch ist, ihm fehlt letztlich eine Aussage, wofür dieser Film steht außer witzig zu sein. Ist es nicht eine vertane Chance z,B. für die Personalgewinnung könnte man ihn beispielsweise mit einem Satz verknüpfen, wie: “Stimmt das wirklich? Find es heraus und komm zum Kennenlerntag am XX.XX.XXXX in Deiner Bibliothek um die Ecke. Gerne kannst Du auch schon mal Deine Bewerbungsunterlagen mitbringen.”

Mobile Bibliothek in Afghanistan

Bildung für Mädchen und Frauen in Afghanistan? Seit der Machtergreifung der Taliban ist das unerwünscht. Das Patriachat unter dem Deckmantel einer Religion kann es nicht zulassen, dass kluge Frauen ihre Ansprüche hinterfragen und vielleicht sogar ganz in Frage stellen.

Meine Oma, geboren kurz nach 1900, erzählte mir, dass sie nach der Grundschule, die damals bis zur 6. Klasse ging, die Schule verlassen musste, weil sie ein Mädchen war. Sie hat gute Bildung bis ins hohe Alter vermisst, regelrecht an vielen Stellen darunter gelitten, gerade als sie durch den Krieg und die Nachkriegszeit gezwungen war, für Kinder und Mann (Kriegsgefangener) den eigenen Betrieb am Laufen zu halten. Es war eine Herausforderung. Was sie aber immer hatte, war ein Zugang zu Büchern und die Möglichkeit zu lesen und selbstbestimmt zu lernen. In Afghanistan hingegen sind auch Bücher für Frauen nicht ganz so einfach zugänglich.

Für die Initiative “Paik-e-Danayi” setzt sich der Student Matin Sediq aufs Motorrad und liefert in Balkh Bücher an Mädchen aus, die keinen Zugang zu Bildung haben. Alle 14 Tage erhalten diese ein Buch direkt an die Haustür geliefert und das alte Buch wird wieder abgeholt. Dieser Service ist kostenlos. Matin Sediq möchte so ein Zeichen der Hoffnung setzen und im Stillen gegen die Taliban protestieren. Die Mädchen haben die Wahl aus 2000 Büchern, die ihm und seinen Freunden gehören. Facebook ist der Ort, an dem Angebot und Nachfrage zusammenkommen.

Dieser Service ist nicht ganz ungefährlich, da dies die von den Taliban aufgestellten Einschränkungen Frauen und Mädchen gegenüber unterwandert. Der Universitätsprofessor Ismail Mashal wurde festgenommen, als er aus Protest gegen das Bildungsverbot für Mädchen Bücher in den Straßen von Kabul vor allem an Frauen und Mädchen verschenkte. Sediq ist es wichtig: ” Books are capable of creating the biggest changes in the world – as long as they don’t get dusty on the shelves!” Er bittet um weitere Unterstützung.

Den Mädchen und jungen Frauen gibt dieser Service Hoffnung, etwas zu lernen und anderen weiterhelfen zu können oder auch nur mal eine Flucht aus dieser tristen Welt zu erlangen.

Dass Bücher wichtig sind für Frauen, die plötzlich von aller Bildung abgeschnitten sind, zeigt auch eine Meldung der dpa vom 28.02.2022, die darüber berichtet, dass Frauen eine Bibliothek in Kabul eröffnet haben.

“Ein Koffer voll mit Büchern” für die Kinder- und Jugendarbeit mit ukrainischen Geflüchteten

„Ein Koffer voll mit Büchern“ soll ukrainischen Kindern und Jugendlichen zugute kommen. Dies ist ein Projekt des Goethe-Instituts , welches in Kooperation mit dem Deutschen Bibliotheksverband e.V. (dbv) und dem Ukrainischen Buchinstitut gestartet wurde und durch das Auswärtige Amt gefördert wird. Die Aktion ist ein Teil eines umfassenden Maßnahmenpakets des Goethe-Instituts in diesem Jahr aus Sondermitteln des Ergänzungshaushalts Ukraine, welcher noch durch den Bundestag verabschiedet werden muss.

Für den Koffer können sich Kulturzentren und Bibliotheken bewerben, die mit ukrainischen Kindern und Jugendlichen arbeiten. Diesen wird dann ein Bücherpaket kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt. Zum Bücherpaket gehören ebenfalls didaktisch aufbereitete Materialien und Visuals, die zur Bewerbung des Angebots genutzt werden können.

Bilderbuchkino ist aus Öffentlichen Bibliotheken im Rahmen der Lese- und Sprachförderung nicht wegzudenken. Um so schöner ist es, Auswahl zu haben, was man mit unseren Kleinen so veranstaltet.

National Library Workers Day in den USA

Bibliothekar*innen in den USA kommt ein besonderes Standing zu. Die ALA (American Library Associaton) hat 2003 diesen Tag für unsere amerikanischen Kolleg*innen ausgerufen, um ihre Arbeit an kritischer Stelle zu würdigen.

In Zeiten, in denen konservative Kreise in Texas und an andere Stelle zunehmend Bücher bannen, die für sie unliebsame Inhalte aufweisen, z.B. Informationen über Homosexualität, braucht es Bibliothekar*innen mit viel Mut und Kreativität, um sich sich diesem Eingriff in den freien Zugang zu Informationen und Wissen aufrecht zu erhalten, auch wenn Banned Books in USA schon eine etwas längere Geschichte haben. Auch Budget-Kürzungen sorgen immer wieder für Probleme. Diese Probleme sind durch COVID-19 nur verstärkt worden, obwohl Bibliothekare auch hier wichtige Verbündete im Kampf gegen Missinformationen waren und lokale Ansprechpartner vor Ort. Sie hatten eine wichtige Rolle innerhalb der Pandemie für die Bevölkerung mit ihren Diensten und standen daher oft an vorderster Front.

Etwas Anerkennung schadet daher nicht!
